Color Contrast for Type

on Screen

2012 - 2013

This is my graduation thesis, which is about legible and readable color contrast using on screen. Since the Apple IPad launched, not only the young people, but also the elder individuals have accepted tablet-size devices as preferred tool for reading. Most of the reading materials on screen are colorful, therefore I believe that there should be a systematic relationship between word count and color contrast for foreground vs. background, which is legible and readable for readers.

In this thesis, I designed a test to have two age-groups of people tested, to figure out the tolerable color contrast for Gen.Y and Baby Boomers. With the test results, I came up with two models that could clearly illustrate the relationships between word count and color contrast.
